Some of the services provided by Public Works include:

  • Maintaining over 5,000 traffic control and street name signs
  • Maintaining over 375 lane miles of roadway on 14 routes with snow removal and ice control
  • Providing leaf collection, brush chipping, and Christmas tree recycling
  • Providing street sweeping service for city streets, bike paths, and parks
  • Cleaning and repairing storm sewers and catch basins
  • Repairing sidewalks and curbs
  • Maintaining street lights
  • Providing building maintenance for municipal facilities
  • Mowing roadsides, trimming trees in right-of-way, and providing litter control
  • Maintaining 9 tornado sirens
  • Assisting in annual events such as Christmas in Mason and the Heritage Festival
  • Hanging banners, flags, and decorations for special events or holidays.
  • Maintaining over 150 city vehicles
