How do I dispose of a large item such as a stove, hot water tank, or refrigerator?
Large items will be picked up by
Rumpke. Refrigerators must have the freon removed by a certified technician and must have a Refrigerant Recovery Statement attached. (Click here to find the form.) Please call Mason Utility Customer Service at 513-229-8533 to schedule a special pickup time for large items.
What is the difference between yard waste, brush pickup, and what can be left for trash pickup?
Yard waste is grass clippings, leaves, weeds, and other garden debris. Brush is tree and shrub trimmings. Some items do not qualify as either yard waste or material for the city's chipping program. Fencing, pallets, and decking materials should be disposed of in your normal garbage pickup. Dirt, rocks, mulch, hay, straw, lumber, and landscape timbers are not considered yard waste and should also be included in your regular garbage pickup.
How do I dispose of yard waste?
Yard waste should be composted whenever possible, to help keep waste disposal costs down. If that is not possible, yard waste may be disposed of as part of your normal waste pickup, either bagged separately or placed in with other trash. Tree stumps will be picked up if they are broken into pieces 50 pounds or less and are free of mud. No yard waste sticker is required.
