City Manager's Biography
Eric Hansen became Mason’s City Manager in December 2006. He reports directly to seven council members who set city policy while he manages the day-to-day operations of the city.
As the city’s chief executive officer, Eric oversees the administration and seven other departments that provide services to residents. He works closely with department heads on budgets, service delivery, infrastructure improvements, economic development, and more. Eric continually challenges department heads and employees to “Exceed the Need” in customer service while continually looking for ways to collaborate, combine, and control projects and initiatives to contain costs.
Eric first came to the city in 1996 as Assistant to the City Manager. After two years, he was promoted to Assistant City Manager and served in that role until being named Acting City Manager five months before his appointment to City Manager.
Eric holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Romney Institute of Public Management at BYU. He graduated with the Karl Snow Award for Academic Achievement in 1996. Prior to moving to Mason, he taught university courses in American history, politics, and economics at BYU and worked for the City of Springville, Utah. He lives in Mason with his wife and three children.
