The Mason Community Center Group Exercise Program offers a wide variety of fitness classes taught by nationally certified instructors. The programs will help you achieve your fitness goals and perform to your highest potential. We strive to provide you with safe and effective cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, and flexibility classes to help you keep your life in motion! All drop-in exercise classes are held in the Activity Room at the Mason Community Center (unless otherwise noted). Drop in as often as you like!

Please note: All regularly scheduled drop-in group exercise classes are cancelled on Monday, September 6, for the Labor Day holiday. Join us instead from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. that day for Plates Aren't Just for Eating, a special event weight plate fitness class.

  • A pass card is REQUIRED to participate. (Pick up your pass card at the front desk.)

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Drop-In Group Exercise

Fitness:

Absolute Abs: A variety of effective exercises designed to strengthen and tone abdominal/back muscles.

Cardio Blast: An interval workout using various drills, plyometrics, and cardio formats alternated with strength training.

Circuit Breaker: Mixes strength training with cardio moves in a station format to keep the heart rate elevated. Mainly utilize dumbbells, BOSU, medicine balls, body-weight exercises, and plyometics.

Down to the Core: Build Strength through total body and isolation movements designed to trim and tone your core.

Fit & Strong: Tone and strengthen your core using fit ball and resistance bands. Perfect for all fitness levels.

Forever Fit: For adults over 55 and BRIDGE members. Strength training and movement in a fun group setting utilizing weights, resistance bands, mats, and chairs.

Group Cycling: Vary your intensity level using your own bicycle's resistance knob. A great cardio workout that really challenges your lower body! Designed for beginning riders up to cycle enthusiasts. New participants, please arrive 15 minutes early for proper set-up.

Group Cycling Interval: Combine the cardio of an intense cycling ride with strength training on and off the bicycle utilizing a variety of strength drills and exercises. New participants, please arrive 15 minutes early for proper set-up.

Maxed Out Barbell: A weight training program designed to enhance muscle mass. This class is for the advanced student. Bars, plates, and free weights are used.

Step & Sculpt: Cardio and strength training utilizing step aerobics and muscular conditioning. Class ends with abdominal and back work and a cool-down stretch session.

Total Body Tone: A non-aerobic, total body strength training session using body bars, BOSU, hand weights, resistance balls, and more. Good for beginners and experienced students alike.

Train it!: Promote muscular endurance, improve your fat-burning ability, and increase your overall self-confidence through squats, press lifts, and curls.

ZUMBA: This fusion of Latin and International music and dance themes creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system. Routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt. No experience necessary.

ZUMBA & Sculpt: Get two workouts in one! ZUMBA dance cardio combined with strength training.



Mind & Body:
Gentle Yoga: Gently pased sequence of classic Hatha yoga postures desigend to stretch, tone, and strengthen while increasing breath awareness. Perfect for beginners or those with experience seeking a gentle practice during the week.

Flow Yoga: A well-rounded yoga class with modifications for all levels. Move at your own pace as you explore meditative flows of movement linked via breath, classical yoga postures, and creative variations.

Power Flow Yoga: This empowering, one-hour power class combines heat with breath and movement to take you to both your mental and physical edge.

Pilates: Focus on breath, joint extension and muscle balance through strength and flexibility training. Tone adbominal and back muscles while developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. All levels welcome.

Yoga Flex: Designed for active athletes looking for a good, total body stretch..

Yoga Mixed: Moderately paced calss includes a mix of dynamic and gentle postures in a flowing sequence. Some yoga experience is helpful but not required.

**Yoga mats provided.**



Aquatic:
Water Fit: This shallow-water class is perfect for the beginning to advanced aqua enthusiast, and it's easy on your joints!

If you do not have a Community Center pass, you may still participate in drop-in exercise programs. However, if you wish to take advantage of any of the other Community Center facilities and programs, a daily admission pass is required.
As a convenience to Community Center pass holders, a Group Exercise Punch Pass may be purchased that will serve like a debit card, allowing you to deduct each class on a class-by-class basis.

30-class pass - $55
50-class pass - $88
100-class pass - $150
  • Group Exercise Punch Passes are valid for two years from date of purchase.
  • A Group Exercise pass entitles the bearer access to any of the Group Exercise classes.
  • Passes are non-transferable.




Fitness Programs (fee based, pre-registration required)
Fitness:
Boot Camp & Train it!: Sports agility drills, plyometrics, and core conditioning mixed with a challenging Train it! weight lifting session.

Kickboxing & Train it!: Cardio workout combined with the added challenge of Train it! Gloves are required to use punch bags.

X Body Workout: Change up your routine and push your body to the max to eliminate muscle plateau that is common with most self-workout regimens.

Mind/Body:
Prenatal Yoga: Expectant mothers, relieve pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy in this gentle yoga class. No experience is necessary.

Yoga Strong: Simulatneously hold yoga postures in proper alignment and breathing while adding weight resistance.

Aquatics:
Deep H20 Aerobics: A no-impact, deep-water workout with moderate to high intensity. Includes cardio, strength training, and abdominal moves.

Kids/Teens:
Teens & Tweens Boot Camp: Get your teen or pre-teen up and moving while receiving the many benefits of cardiovascular and strength building exercise. For youths ages 10 to 14.

Kiddie Boot Camp: Kids will sweat their way through a good time featuring cardio, strength, and obstacle course.

Preschooler Yoga Adventure: Variations on traditional yoga postures that help children develop physical strength, flexibility, emotional calm, and self-expressions. For children ages 3 to 5.

Yoga Tots: Combines yoga poses with songs and games to promote parent-child connection and overall well-being. For parent and child age 1 to 3.

ZUMBA Kids: Fun Latin-inspired dance rhythms help promote healthy weight, strong muscles and bones, more energy, and self-confidence. For children ages 5 to 13.

Group Exercise Policies

  • Soft-soled gym shoes must be worn in all aerobics classes (except water aerobics and yoga.) Sandals, heeled shoes, boots, etc., are not permitted.
  • Proper attire must be worn in all classes (shorts, T-shirts, light clothing.) Jeans, scrubs, skirts, and heavy clothing are not permitted.
  • A swim suit must be worn to participate in water aerobics.
  • Hand weights and/or ankle weights are not permitted during the aerobic portion of any class.
  • Participants are limited to a maximum of two sets of risers for all step classes.
  • As a courtesy to other participants, please turn off all cellular phones, beepers, and pagers prior to the start of class.
  • Open to ages 13 and up.
