Mission Statement

We are committed to enhancing the quality of life for the community by preserving open space, providing exceptional facilities and programs that encourage health, fitness, learning and enjoyment, and offering opportunities for community involvement.

The City of Mason's Parks & Recreation Department currently services and is responsible for over 242 acres of green space, with an additional 126 acres of open space recently acquired for future development. The Parks & Recreation Department manages six parks, the Lou Eves Municipal Pool, and the Mason Community Center. It institutes over 300 programs annually for adults, youth, athletics, cultural activities, camps, and special events.

Mason Community Center Description

The Mason Parks & Recreation Department manages and operates a 158,300 square foot community center, one of the largest public community recreation centers in Ohio. The center is divided into two areas. Part of the facility is dedicated public community center space (80,850 square feet). The remainder (77,450 square feet) is shared space for both community center and high school activities. It includes a field house (four 84' x 50' courts), a gymnasium, an auditorium with seating for 1,200 people, and a natatorium.

State-of-the art equipment is installed in the fitness room and in the second-floor weight room. The second floor also has a one-eighth mile walking/jogging track. Additional first-floor facilities include meeting rooms, kitchen, aerobics dance studio, indoor playground, game room, arts and crafts rooms, childcare facilities, The BRIDGE senior center, and Parks & Recreation staff offices.

The facility's natatorium is over 30,000 square feet and includes a zero-depth entry leisure pool, interactive water features and pool toys, geysers, 6,000 gallon whirlpool, three-story twisting water slide, and a 'lazy river'. The leisure pool holds 161,400 gallons. Separated from the leisure pool by a glass wall is a twenty-five meter competition pool (514,000 gallons) measuring twenty-five yards across and equipped with two diving boards and a moveable floor, perfect for swim lessons and accessibility.

The BRIDGE is for senior programming and social activities. It includes a multipurpose room, a living room-style fireplace, and a billiards room.
